Business park zoning moves ahead in Langford

Langford council gave second and third reading to a rezoning application from Richard Irwin on behalf of 89 Chicken Ranch Ltd. following a public hearing during a special meeting on June 8. The application to change zoning from rural residential to allow for business park usage applies to three separate properties including 3344 Luxton Rd., 3370 Luxton Rd. and 2896 Sooke Rd.

Earlier in the meeting, during the public hearing for the application, one resident expressed concerns about the current state of Luxton Road and asked that council include improvements for the entire roadway. Council members agreed to have staff look at what could be done through the project.

Residents concerned about

potential for development

At the meeting, council adopted a bylaw that would remove the highway dedication from a roughly one acre section of Spencer Road with the intention of transfering the property to a private owner.

Several neighbouring residents in attendance expressed concerns about the potential to develop this lot but staff and council assured them a right of way that remains on the property would limit the ability to build.

Mayor Stew Young noted B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檙e not going to let anyone build anything on it B次元官网网址 Now with Spencer Road closed weB次元官网网址檙e using it as an access.B次元官网网址

He added that if the property is used as an access to a proposed neighbouring development it would help improve some of the safety concerns for the area.

Rezoning for subdivision

moves ahead

Council also gave second and third readings to rezoning request that which would amend the existing zoning for properties at 656 Frederic Rd. and 765 Willing Dr. from Rural Residential 2 to Rural Residential 6A. The changes would allow for an approximately 53-lot subdivision with minimum lot areas of 5,920 square feet.
