West Shore RCMP officers responded to a call of a hit and run collision at the Peninsula Co-op Gas Station, 890 Goldsteam Ave, Langford, on Oct. 10.

A 66-year-old man, who had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, was arrested by West Shore RCMP after a hit-and-run collision on Oct. 10 at the Peninsula Co-op Gas Station, 890 Goldstream Ave.

Police say they responded to the call at approximately 3:34 p.m., where they were told a driver of a Grey 2005 Mazda 3 had allegedly driven into a person at a slow rate of speed, after being confronted about drinking and driving.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by B.C. Emergency Health Services.

Witnesses were able to provide the license plate of the vehicle to police, enabling them to quickly track down the driver of the Mazda who was arrested for impaired driving and assault with a weapon.

The suspect's car was impounded and he was released with an Appearance Notice and issued a 90-day driving prohibition.

West Shore RCMP say they will be forwarding a detailed report to Crown Counsel for consideration of criminal charges regarding impaired driving and assault with a weapon.
