IIO doesnBԪַt recommend charges after motorcyclist death in Mill Bay

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. has found an off-duty officer did not cause or contribute to the death of a motorcyclist in Mill Bay.

The death was investigated by the IIO since an officer (although off-duty) was acting in a dangerous situation where there was serious harm or death, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.

On June 17, 2018, a black Corvette and green motorcycle collided near Cobble Hill Road. The motorcyclist died from his injuries and another driver was taken to the hospital.

The IIO release said while giving first aid to the driver, the officer also BԪַrepeatedly sought to prevent injury to a civilian witness.BԪַ

The investigation has been concluded.
