Three businesses with vehicle fleets parked just off the Pat Bay Highway have been targeted by thieves in recent weeks. But itB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s not vehicles or the items inside that are being taken.
Since mid-April, three businesses in the 700-blocks of Vanalman Avenue and Enterprise Crescent report that gas has been siphoned from multiple vehicles overnight.
Saanich police are now aware of five incidents occurring in recent weeks B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ two of the businesses have each been hit twice.
Business owners that operate commercial vehicles should look at increasing security, Sgt. Dean Jantzen says, suggesting improved lighting in the lot where trucks are parked and using locking gas caps.
In some of the incidents up to four vehicles have been targeted at once, and up to 20 litres of fuel is taken from the trucks.
Police are still analyzing surveillance footage taken from one of the businesses targeted.
