Homeless man turns in more than $2,000

Incredible display of honesty and selflessness: RCMP

People turn in found money all the time at the West Shore RCMP detachment.

What's unusual in a recent case, however, is that the money turned in added up to over $2,000 and it was turned in by a man in his 60s who is currently homeless.

"This is an incredible display of honesty and selflessness," said Const. Alex Bérubé of West Shore RCMP, adding that the rightful owner now has 90 days to identify the specific details of their loss B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ amount, denominations of the bills and location where it was lost, for example B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ or the good samaritan will be given the money.

Anyone wishing to lay claim to the cash can contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or visit the detachment at 698 Atkins Rd. All claims will be thoroughly investigated and vetted by investigating officers.
