Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) investigators are calling the death of a a 35-year-old man in the 1400 block of Hillside Avenue last Saturday a homicide.

A release from the unit did not state that charges had been laid in the incident. While sources have told the Victoria B次元官网网址 that a suspect turned himself in to police after the incident, requests to the RCMP unit overseeing the case have not confirmed that fact.
The victim in the death has been identified as Joe Gauthier, a father of four who was well-known in the local minor football community.
