Highlands residents urged to be cautious at Eagles Lake after algae bloom detected

Island Health has not yet confirmed if the bloom is blue-green algae

Highlands residents are being asked to exercise caution around Eagles Lake, after the District issued a warning that toxic algae may be present.

Residents should not swim in or drink the lake water, and should keep pets and livestock away until further notice. Fishermen are asked to clean fish well and discard the guts.

B次元官网网址淲e are aware of an algae bloom on Eagles Lake but it has not yet been confirmed as blue-green algae. Highlands has posted precautionary advisories at the site,B次元官网网址 said Island Health medical health officer Dee Hoyano in an email.
