Anyone parking perpendicularly on Goldstream avenue alongside the Royal Colwood Golf Course is on notice.
Colwood bylaw officers have been issuing parking notices, then warnings on vehicles illegally parked alongside the stretch of Goldstream Avenue bordering the golf course.
B次元官网网址淭here are two main concerns; the first was a safety issue. We didnB次元官网网址檛 want people backing out onto Goldstream, endangering themselves by getting hit by a car,B次元官网网址 said Colwood Coun. Rob Martin. B次元官网网址淚f you parallel park you can more easily merge. (The other reason) was to stop the destruction of private property, specifically the Colwood golf clubB次元官网网址檚 fence.B次元官网网址
Cars parked along the road were backing up and pushing the fence in order to get their vehicles off the road. Council is considering erecting signage along Goldstream Avenue to help educate the public about the parking situation.
B次元官网网址淭here wasnB次元官网网址檛 any malice about anything (the public) was doing, in fact they were trying to be courteous, allowing more cars in there,B次元官网网址 Martin said. B次元官网网址淚 just donB次元官网网址檛 think they realized they werenB次元官网网址檛 supposed to be doing it that way.B次元官网网址
The City is still not looking at ticketing at this time, just creating awareness, Martin said, adding the goal is to ensure peopleB次元官网网址檚 safety and protect private property. He encouraged anyone with questions or comments to contact the city at engineering@colwood.ca.
