Emergency crews were called to a gas leak in the 1000-block of Goldstream Avenue late Tuesday morning.
Goldstream Ave has re-opened from Leigh Road. The gas leak has been shut off.

A three-inch line was struck at a construction site near the Leigh Road and Goldstream Avenue intersection. Traffic in both directions on Goldstream Avenue was rerouted between Leigh and Spencer roads.
Fortis BC was able to turn off the line within roughly an hour of it being struck and Goldstream Avenue fully reopened shortly before noon.
Spencer Middle School students are headed back into their classrooms after and did a sweep of the school to make sure it was safe after a gas leak on Leigh Road and Goldstream Ave.

Officials at nearby Spencer Middle School decided to do a self-evacuation of the building as a precaution due to a strong smell of rotten eggs in some of the classrooms.
Fortis BC officials inspected the school and did a meter reading before kids returned to classes on their first day back from spring break.
