Seven people running for four council seats in Metchosin

Candidates were asked to list their name, age, occupation, previous publicly elected political experience, and what their commitment to the residents of the municipality is if they were to be voted in. Four councillors to be elected.

Kyara Kahakauwila, 36, self-employed, councillor 1999-2008

I have a proven track record of making fair decisions based on facts and community input. Andy MacKinnon, 58, biologist/forester, no previous experience

B次元官网网址淚 will work to uphold our existing community plan while maintaining MetchosinB次元官网网址檚 low residential taxes and debt-free status. I will listen respectfully to all viewpoints on issues before any decisions are made. And I will focus on maintaining our communityB次元官网网址檚 green, rural character.B次元官网网址

To be rural we stand united, low taxes are highlighted, we keep densities low, our reserves have dough, and our debt is annihilated. Chris Moehr, 67, management consultant/business analyst, former councillor 1999-2002

B次元官网网址淎s a former councillor and deputy mayor, my approach to office recognizes the importance of local land use decisions and all that flows from it. I will do thorough research on local issues, come prepared, listen to others and do my best to serve the immediate and long-term interests of my community, Metchosin.B次元官网网址

 

Anne Richmond, 56, consultant, no previous experience

B次元官网网址淢y commitment is to continue the work of past councils to preserve and promote Metchosin as a sustainable rural community, and to support the vibrant volunteer groups which do so much to define our community. IB次元官网网址檒l use the skills and experience developed through many years in government to support council to operate in a transparent and accountable way.B次元官网网址

 

Karen Watson, 65, employee of Coleman Flowers, councillor 1993-1999 and mayor 1999-2005

B次元官网网址淚f elected, I will commit to working hard to maintain the rural lifestyle expected by our residents. Farming is an important component of our community and should be supported by council and residents. I will work hard to support and represent all of our residents. I will be a fair and open-minded member of council.B次元官网网址
