RCMP capture a 33-year-old Sidney man on the Trans Canada Highway after he allegedly struck multiple vehicles on Bear Mountain Parkway in Langford.

In what's being referred to by the West Shore RCMP as a "dynamic situation" Tuesday night, a collision with several parked vehicles down Bear Mountain Parkway in Langford sparked a hunt for black Jeep Cherokee.

Police were eventually able to locate the vehicle traveling south on Millstream Road and entered the Trans Canada Highway towards Victoria. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 180 km/h and was weaving in from side to side. The police vehicle did not use the emergency equipment at that point as it was believed the driver could potentially cause a pursuit.

West Shore RCMP contacted Saanich PD to request assistance to set up a road block, should the vehicle decide to flee from police.

As two other marked police vehicles joined, police decided for public safety that it would be attempted to block and force the vehicle to stop. The Cherokee was surrounded by police vehicles and was safely intercepted.

The driver, a 33 year old Sidney man, was arrested and is now facing several charges including Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Remain at a Scene of Accident and Impaired Driving related charges.

The male is set to appear in court on April 23, 2015 at the Western Communities Courthouse.
