The Leigh Road connector was expected to be complete in August, but it has been delayed until mid-November.

The project will connect the south end of Leigh Road to Langford Parkway and will allow drivers to travel across the railway tracks, giving them another access to Westhills and West Shore Parkway.

It will also allow traffic to travel from Langford Parkway directly to the Trans-Canada Highway via the Leigh Road overpass.

Michelle Mahovlich, LangfordB次元官网网址檚 director of engineering, said the delay is due to organizing the external utilities such as hydro and placement of the railway. The railway will cut through the base of Leigh Road.

The City of Langford has already excavated the Leigh Road area, put pipes in the ground and back-filled it. Langford Parkway is currently being widened for curbing and extra paving, for the dedicated left turn lane going eastbound, turning left onto Leigh Road.

Once complete, Leigh Road and Langford Parkway will have a signalized intersection, including a dedicated left turn and through lanes for eastbound traffic on Langford Parkway. For those travelling southbound on Leigh Road there will be dedicated left and right turn lanes.

Construction of the connector started in the spring and Mahovlich said the City is B次元官网网址渓ooking forward to openingB次元官网网址 it in November.

The project comes with a $3-million price tag with funding from the Westhills development as part of their rezoning and development agreements with the City.
