A freak electrical fire left a classic sports car a charred mess Tuesday afternoon in a busy section of north Langford.

The owner, who asked not be identified, said he was driving along Millstream Road and was nearing the traffic light at Treanor Avenue when he saw smoke coming from the area of the fuse panel under the dashboard.

He managed to pull the car, a sleek black 2001 Mercedes convertible, into the parking lot of the Loghouse Pub and escape before fire and smoke consumed the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The fire sent black smoke high into the sky, prompting passersby to Tweet about the scenario.

A Langford Fire Rescue crew was on scene shortly afterward to douse the blaze. The owner, who purchased the car in California some years ago and said he has B次元官网网址渂abied itB次元官网网址� ever since, was told the car will likely be written off.
