Several agencies are investigating after workers were injured when a steam pipe burst at Victoria General Hospital Friday morning.
B次元官网网址淰iew Royal received a call at 8:34 this morning for alarms ringing at the hospital,B次元官网网址 said View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst. B次元官网网址淐rews investigated and found a large diameter steam pipe had burst while there was a worker working on the pipe.B次元官网网址
Two workers were sent to Royal JubileeB次元官网网址檚 burn unit by ambulance after sustaining serious burns while working on the pipe and are currently undergoing care.
Island Health said the incident did not impact patient care and after a temporary ambulance diversion from VGH to Royal Jubilee, the hospital has returned to business as usual.
Hurst said the building has significant damage due to flooding and has been turned over to Island Health for clean-up.
Twenty-six firefighters responded to the scene from View Royal, Colwood, Langford and Esquimalt fire departments.
The emergency room at VGH remains open according to Island Health and plans are underway to repair the damage caused by the pipe burst.
