Greg Brotherson made his first appearance in the Western Communities Courthouse, Oct. 29 to face break and enter and robbery charges.
He is being charged with robbing a 77-year-old Langford man at his home early Oct. 6. The victim told West Shore RCMP he was threatened with a knife and was treated for minor injuries.
Brotherston decided to waive the right to a preliminary inquiry and the reading of charges.
His lawyer Richard Neary is to be in chambers of the supreme court in Victoria, Oct. 31 to set a date for a three-day trial. The verdict will be decided by a judge alone.
Brotherston is to be back in the Western Communities Courthouse Dec. 6 to face a manslaughter charge related to the death of Richard Green.
Green, a 57-year-old Colwood man was allegedly punched outside of the Country Rose Pub in Colwood, Oct. 8 around 8:30 p.m. He underwent emergency surgery on Oct. 9 and was put into an induced coma. He was taken off life support and died early Oct. 15.
Initially Brotherston was charged with aggravated assault, manslaughter was added after GreenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s death.
Brotherston will remain in custody by consent until his next appearance via video.
He was also charged with aggravated assault, but prosecution stayed that charge on Oct. 29.
