Jane Ilott and husband Steve arrived in Paris the day before the violence that was part of the Yellow Vest movement with 17-year-old son Callum and 15-year-old daughter Emily.

B次元官网网址淲e actually walked the Champs Elysees the day before, stopped and had coffee and croissants at a sidewalk cafe,B次元官网网址� Ilott said.

It was her first trip to Paris.

B次元官网网址淲e stayed in the Marais district B次元官网网址� out of the danger zone, but down the street from the police station,B次元官网网址� she said.

Police sirens began sounding Saturday morning and were still sounding when the Ilotts left Sunday morning.

B次元官网网址淲e were headed to the Arc de Triumph [sic] for our tour,B次元官网网址� Ilott said. B次元官网网址淭he protest was still going on and we decided to leave the area and come back later. After our tour of the Catacombs, we headed back to the Arc de Triumph. As we came around the corner we came upon the destruction of the Champs-Elysees.B次元官网网址�

B次元官网网址淸With] riot police blocking every side street, we had no choice but to walk through the aftermath of the worst riot in the history of Paris.B次元官网网址�

The metro was shut down and Ilott had to find a taxi to get back to the hotel.

B次元官网网址淲e hurried out of the area as the riot police were starting to form up again,B次元官网网址� she said. B次元官网网址淲e didnB次元官网网址檛 feel unsafe, but didnB次元官网网址檛 want to linger.B次元官网网址�

The violent demonstration by the B次元官网网址測ellow vestB次元官网网址� movement saw about 80 luxury stores, restaurants and banks looted and burned.

In one case, a fire in a bank spread to a residential building and threatened the lives of a mother and child.

Nearly 200 people were arrested.
