B.C. Greens nominate first candidate for 2013 election

Susan Low will represent the provincial Greens in Esquimalt-Royal Roads

The Green Party of B.C. has nominated its first candidate for next yearB次元官网网址檚 provincial election.

Susan Low, a small business owner and Esquimalt resident, will represent the provincial Greens in Esquimalt-Royal Roads.

Low has worked with small business, government and non-profit organizations in the areas of strategic planning and business development for 17 years and holds a masterB次元官网网址檚 degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Calgary, according to a release.

B次元官网网址淎s a business person and a mom, I believe the Green Party has the best policies for building a better future, while looking after the practical needs of today,B次元官网网址 Low said in a statement.

The seat is currently held by the NDPB次元官网网址檚 Maurine Karagianis, who beat out B.C. Green Party leader Jane Sterk in the 2009 provincial election with 53 per support.

Sterk received 17 per cent of the vote in that election.

Low was born and raised in Saanich and lives with her husband, Artos, and their five-year-old son, Simon, near the Gorge Waterway. She also volunteers with the Victoria Foundation and competes at the masters level in national and international competitive rowing.
