With Langford Fire Chief Bob Beckett retiring next month B次元官网网址 after 20 years with the department B次元官网网址 many have been waiting to hear who will step in to fill those big boots.
The City of Langford announced Wednesday that Assistant Chief Chris Aubrey has been appointed as the new fire chief.
Serving as a volunteer, lieutenant, captain and most recently assistant chief, Aubrey has 17 years of experience with Langford Fire Rescue. During that time he has atteneded a number of significant events, both locally and abroad, including fighting the Happy Valley school fire, the Sheraton Hotel fire, the Evergreen Mall Fire and the Goldstream Park fuel tanker rollover. He was also deployed in the Okanagan for structural fire protection during the height of the 2003 wildfires and helped rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans.
Born and raised on the West Shore, Aubrey has helped a great number of West Shore residents.
