Advance polls for the Langford-Juan de Fuca byelection open June 16 and go until June 21.

Voters can choose to vote at the advance polls, or they can vote on Saturday, June 24.

A person choosing to use the advance polls can vote at any open location. Voters are assigned to a voting place on Election Day, but they do have the option of voting at another location if that location is more convenient for them. People can find their designated voting location on the Elections BC website.

The advance poll locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The advance poll location in Sooke is at SEAPARC Leisure Centre, 2168 Phillips Rd.

Not all advance voting locations are open on every day of the advance voting period, so voters should check their Where to Vote Card before voting.

Voters can also vote by mail.

Voting packages can be requested on Election BCB次元官网网址檚 website or by calling 1-800-661-8683. Elections BC must receive completed voting packages before voting closes at 8 p.m. on June 24.

Five candidates are running in the byelection: the Greens of British ColumbiaB次元官网网址檚 Camille Currie, Conservative Mike Harris, BC UnitedB次元官网网址檚 Elena Lawson, Ravi Parmar of the NDP and Tyson Riel Strandlund of the Communist Party of B.C.

The byelection was due to the retirement of former premier John Horgan.

In February, Horgan, who has twice battled cancer, said he was speeding up his retirement plans after announcing last June that health reasons were forcing him to end a 30-year political career.

That included five years as premier, eight years as New Democratic Party leader, five terms as MLA and a dozen years as a political staff employee.

He officially stepped down on March 31.
