An earthquake with a magnitude at or over 6.0 has hit off the coast of British Columbia, approximately 191 km southwest of Bella Bella, B.C. at 1:19 p.m. PST.
The the quake has a magnitude of 6.0, while Canada Earthquakes is reporting the tremor at 6.1.
"There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected," says Canada Earthquakes. "Not felt. No tsunami expected."
the quake as hitting 211 km from Bella Bella, not 191 km.
The USGS reports the tremor has a depth of 1.0 km (0.6 miles), and is approximately 350 km south of Prince Rupert, and almost 390 km northwest of Campbell River.
Update: According to Natural Resources Canada, the earthquake triggered two aftershocks measuring 4.5 and 4.9 on the Richter scale, which were estimated up to 10 km deep ().
The aftershocks also were not expected to cause any tsunamis.
