Family of Lisa Marie Young and RCMP investigators hope a large reward offer will help forward the investigation into her disappearance.
Young was 21 when she left a house party, accepted a ride with a man who drove a Jaguar, and disappeared on June 30, 2002, in Nanaimo. Police believe YoungB次元官网网址檚 disappearance was the result of foul play and in nearly 20 years of investigation into the case, her body has never been found.
Now an anonymous donor has offered $50,000 U.S. to anyone who can lead investigators to the location of YoungB次元官网网址檚 remains.
Carol Frank, Lisa MarieB次元官网网址檚 aunt, said her sister Joanne Young, Lisa MarieB次元官网网址檚 mother, worked hard to keep her daughterB次元官网网址檚 memory alive until she died in 2017. Frank, along with Cyndy Hall, has organized annual marches and other efforts to maintain public awareness of the missing womanB次元官网网址檚 case.
B次元官网网址淚 know my late sister would be really happy and honoured that someone was going to do this for Lisa,B次元官网网址� Frank said. B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 sad we have to come to this, you know, to offer money, but if it helps in the end then thatB次元官网网址檚 all we want, to bring Lisa home. ItB次元官网网址檚 always been our main goal over all the years, even before justice is done B次元官网网址� to bring Lisa home, give her a proper burial. Somebody just threw her away, like trash, and she wasnB次元官网网址檛.B次元官网网址�
Frank said she knows and has spoken with the person who has put up the reward and the decision was made that the reward money would only be for locating YoungB次元官网网址檚 remains.
B次元官网网址淐yndy and I actually met with the lead investigator and discussed this too and thatB次元官网网址檚 what we want,B次元官网网址� Frank said. B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 not just for information because weB次元官网网址檝e got a lot of information over the years B次元官网网址� Someone knows where she is and weB次元官网网址檙e hoping this will help.B次元官网网址�

B次元官网网址淲hich would benefit the investigation, obviously, and at the same time help the family get some closure if her remains are located,B次元官网网址� Muntener said. B次元官网网址淲e have to basically corroborate and assess information if it does come through to us.B次元官网网址�
He said finding YoungB次元官网网址檚 remains could provide physical evidence that could be used to B次元官网网址渁ssess other information in the investigationB次元官网网址� that could further the file.
B次元官网网址淔inding her remains could have a significant positive impactB次元官网网址次元官网网址� he said. B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檝e had quite a few years where weB次元官网网址檝e been able to dedicate a lot of resources to it. Unfortunately last year Nanaimo had five murders, so our unitB次元官网网址檚 been heavily taxed away, but weB次元官网网址檙e still actively investigating things as they come in.B次元官网网址�
Muntener said police believe there are people who have direct evidence or information and theyB次元官网网址檙e hoping the reward will motivate those people to come forward.
B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檙e just really thankful that theyB次元官网网址檝e come forward to do this and hope it will help move the case forward because itB次元官网网址檚 been a long time. ItB次元官网网址檚 going to be 20 years,B次元官网网址� Frank said.
