Brookes Westshore is introducing a Grade 4 and 5 program this fall, bringing more education opportunities to Southern Vancouver Island! The innovative school brings the world to the classroom, preparing students for a lifetime of success with inquiry-based, self-driven learning. Until now programming was only available for Grades 6 to 12, but in September 2020 the school is adding two new grades.

Opening to primary grades will help students get a feel for the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and smooth the transition to the Middle Years and Diploma Programs. The emphasizes self-driven learning and respect for other cultures, which produces well-rounded students. In the launch year the primary program will teach the BC Ministry curriculum (integrated with Brookes WestshoreB次元官网网址檚 inquiry-based education framework) with the long-term goal of transitioning to the IB Primary Years Programme.

Outdoor Learning

B次元官网网址淲e already have some really excellent teachers who specialize in younger grades who are excited to lead our new programming, and a great space to facilitate their education,B次元官网网址� Salvador says.

In addition to their innovative curriculum and facilities, is developing an outdoor learning program that will support studentsB次元官网网址� physical, mental and social health.

B次元官网网址淭his growing program takes advantage of our great location with safe, easy access to the ocean, the beach and the woods to teach students leadership skills and build deeper connections to the environment. Our outdoor instructors will pilot the program with the Grade 4s and 5s and roll it out across the school in the coming months.B次元官网网址�

Another choice in education

The is open to local students, with boarding available at higher grades. Applications are welcome from all interested families. Spaces are limited and filling up fast.

Brookes Westshore has a long-standing commitment to small class sizes, and the primary program will allow for an even better teacher-student ratio while giving lots of space to implement COVID-19 safety protocols with younger children.
