Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria.
Gusts of up to 90 km/hr have been forecast for Friday (Jan. 31) evening, and the government agency has warned the strong winds may cause damage, toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
"Strong westerly winds will develop through Juan de Fuca Strait Friday evening as a low-pressure system crosses the South Coast," says Environment Canada's website. "Winds will briefly subside overnight as the low moves inland."
Drivers have been warned to be on alert as road conditions may be affected by the high winds.
Blustery conditions are expected to remain through to Saturday, Feb. 1 across Greater Victoria, but wind speeds are expected to be below warning levels.
