Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) has added a new vehicle to its maintenance fleet - their first zero-emission electric truck.
The e-truck, which went into service on Oct. 1, replaced a diesel truck that consumed around 300 litres of fuel each month.

"We want to keep making improvements in how we operate as a business. This truck is visiting our properties every day to collect garbage and recycling and to haul equipment for making repairs. Currently the harbour authority uses seven other vehicles and two golf carts at the Breakwater District.
GVHA says investing in one electric vehicle is a good way to learn about the opportunity it presents.
"Our mission includes having a working harbour that leads in regional sustainability," Lewis-Manning said.
