The Pendray Inn and Tea House is set to host an afternoon tea event to raise awareness about the connection between domestic violence and brain injuries.

Hosted in honour of Purple Thursday, the fundraiser will take place at the historic, 127-year-old Pendray mansion on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Statistics show that one in three women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime, and up to 92 per cent of incidents of intimate partner violence involve blows to the head, face or neck, often leading to brain injuries," said the Pendray Inn and Tea House in a news release. "These alarming figures highlight the critical need for awareness and support in helping survivors rebuild their lives."

The establishment will donate 50 per cent of profits to Canadian Royal Purple, the Victoria Brain Injury Society (VBIS) and the BC Brain Injury Association B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ non-profit organizations that support survivors of domestic abuse and/or brain injury.

"The funds will directly assist with counselling, rehabilitation and advocacy for individuals affected by intimate partner violence, many of whom have experienced traumatic brain injuries," added the Pendray Inn and Tea House in the same news release.

In addition to enjoying tea and snacks, attendees will also have a chance to bid on donated items at a silent auction, from which VBIS will receive all proceeds.
