On March 24, Victoria joined worldwide anti-gun protests by staging its own #MarchforOurLives protest.
At 1 p.m, a large group assembled on the lawn of the B.C. Parliament Buildings in response to a spate of recent school shootings in the United States. Many carried signs. One read: B次元官网网址淚 protested war in Vietnam. Now, I protest war in schools.B次元官网网址 Another: B次元官网网址淧romote love not guns.B次元官网网址
B次元官网网址淚B次元官网网址檓 here to support gun control. I [have] grandchildren who are students and I think itB次元官网网址檚 very important that we stand up for this,B次元官网网址 said Linda Miller, a retired teacher from Alberta. B次元官网网址淲e are very lucky in Canada in that we donB次元官网网址檛 have the same problems that we do south of the boarder but I support the marches everywhere wholeheartedly.B次元官网网址
Two high school students, Nigel from Edmonton and Devon from Victoria, shared a sign that read, B次元官网网址淔ear has no place in schools.B次元官网网址
When asked why they were there in protest, Devon said, B次元官网网址淐hildren are being murdered.B次元官网网址
Nigel continued, B次元官网网址淚f we are in school and feel like we have to watch our backs because we donB次元官网网址檛 really feel safe. School is meant to be a safe and nurturing environment.B次元官网网址
B次元官网网址淚 have friends in the United StatesB次元官网网址 they are worried for their lives when theyB次元官网网址檙e just walking to school B次元官网网址 a place where they are going to learn and thrive. Now they fear they are going to be killed,B次元官网网址 said Devon.
B次元官网网址淭hatB次元官网网址檚 not the world we should live in.B次元官网网址
