A temporary exhibit celebrating Chinese heritage is now a permanent fixture in CanadaB次元官网网址檚 oldest Chinatown.
Re-named the Victoria Chinatown Museum, the Victoria Chinatown Museum Society took over operations of the Fan Tan Alley space on Oct. 1 with Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin as the museum's first patron.
B次元官网网址淚 want to thank you for bringing to life history and culture of the Chinese Canadians through the stories of people, of families, of businesses and community organizations that have contributed so much for our prosperity and to the dynamism and vibrancy of culture in British Columbia and indeed this community,B次元官网网址 Austin said during a Sept. 30 fundraising dinner in Chinatown.
The space at 10-14 Fan Tan Alley was previously operated by the Chinese Canadian Museum Society that also has museum in VancouverB次元官网网址檚 Chinatown.
Registered in 2020, the Victoria Chinatown Museum Society received charitable status in 2023 and says it looks forward to sharing Chinese Canadian stories with British Columbians and visitors from around the world.
