The University of Victoria has appointed Tammy Hopper as the first dean of its newly established Faculty of Health, beginning her five-year term on May 1.
Hopper, currently dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta, brings extensive experience in leadership, governance, and fundraising. A speech-language therapist and researcher, her work focuses on improving communication and quality of life for individuals with dementia.
In her new role, Hopper plans to integrate Indigenous pedagogy into the curriculum while fostering equity, belonging, and collaboration.

The Faculty of Health aims to address local and national health-care challenges through expanded research, academic programs, and partnerships. The first cohort of students is set to begin in May 2025.
