Fire crews responded to a structure fire at SookeB次元官网网址檚 Sunny Shores Resort and Marina on Tuesday evening (Jan. 22). 

B次元官网网址淐rews acted quickly to contain the fire and ensure everyoneB次元官网网址檚 safety,B次元官网网址� said Sooke Fire Chief Wayne Kennedy. B次元官网网址淭hank you to our Sooke Fire Rescue personnel and mutual aid partners for their good work with response, suppression and containment.B次元官网网址� 

The fire was contained to a single cabin on the property as crews were called to the scene around 6:12 p.m. While the unit sustained considerable damage, no injuries have been reported. The unit's occupants had access to alternate accommodations, so Emergency Support Services were not required. 

Preliminary reports suggest the fire started due to a cooking incident, but further investigation is planned to determine an exact cause.

The post further stated that Dussome's main need was to find a new home for himself and his cat, but the funding raised would also go towards necessities such as clothing and food.  

Engine One and three district Fire Rescue personnel were on scene to provide fire suppression, keeping the fire contained to the single cabin. They were followed by an additional support crew on Engine 12, along with mutual aid partners. Other regional departments stood by for assistance.
