After nearly a year of waiting for its regulatory approvals, NorthStar Air is ready to commence its short-hop flights between the Victoria International Airport and San Juan and Orcas islands in Washington State as of May 6.
The route is billed by the company as the worldB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s shortest international scheduled air service in North America B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” with a flight time of a mere 12 minutes.
In May 2017, NorthStar Air also suggested it would be offering other flight service between Victoria and Bamfield and Tofino, with possible expansion to Whistler and Squamish in the future.

The company will be using a nine-seat aircraft, typically seen for similar-length flights between Caribbean islands.
Departures are designed, according to the company, to appear to day-trippers.
A media release suggests fares as low as $49, but a search of their booking service on their website, shows tickets for $86.12 or $107.12 between Victoria and Friday Harbor (May 7 flights).
