After a remarkable year of flavours, Sea Breeze Vietnamese Cuisine is closing its doors on March 29.
"Everything is challenging now, not just for us but for many companies," owner Halle Vu said. "Running the restaurant costs a lot, but we don't want the quality of food to suffer; we didn't wish for this to happen."
Sea Breeze first opened its doors on Feb. 1, 2024 to rave reviews from diners.
"My partner and I had dinner at Sea Breeze two weeks after it opened," said Sophie L. on a Trip Advisor review. "We shared the shrimp rice spring rolls, and each has incredibly delicious pho B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ wow, the flavours, ingredients and presentation were unforgettable. Honestly the best pho IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ve ever had, without hesitation. "
"OMG we went there for the first time a couple of nights ago," said one Sidney Facebook group member. "So incredible...then we heard the sad news."
"We thank everyone for the support and positive feedback B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ reading some comments on the Sidney Facebook page makes me happy," Vu said.
The Vietnamese restaurant took over Boondocks Bar and Grill when it closed in August 2022 after 35 years.
Vu told Peninsula B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ· Review she will take a break for a while and given the chance, she might open a smaller restaurant in Sidney.
The 5,000-square-foot eatery has been the only one in town serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
For now, they're inviting diners to stop by the restaurant before it closes on Saturday, March 29.
