Princess Anne plans to visit the Maritime Museum of BC during her brief visit to Canada in May.
The only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth and the sister of King Charles, Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence make an official visit to Canada May 3 to 5 with official engagements resuming May 8 in London.
The couple will visit a number of organizations in Greater Victoria, with two officially announced so far.
On May 4, the princess is scheduled to visit the Maritime Museum of BC Collection and Archives.
B次元官网网址淒uring their 1951 visit to Victoria, Queen Elizabeth II (then Princess) and Prince Phillip toured the navy base in Esquimalt B次元官网网址 very fitting for Prince Phillip with his naval background. He inquired about a naval museum on this coast. When told there was none, he set about to change that,B次元官网网址 museum executive director Brittany Vis said in a news release.
B次元官网网址淲hen he got home to England, he contacted the Greenwich Museum and asked them to send some objects to B.C. to start a new naval museum. These objects, along with objects from local individuals, started our organization as a naval museum on Signal Hill just outside the gates of the HMC Dockyard in Esquimalt.B次元官网网址
During the visit, Princess Anne will see the items from Greenwich, along with many others from the museumB次元官网网址檚 45,000-plus piece collection. Her Royal Highness will also meet the museum board of directors, staff and volunteers to discuss ongoing projects.
The next day, May 5, the princess and her husband are expected to visit the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association facility in Central Saanich.
The association will share highlights of their programs to the monarch, and some riders will have the opportunity to demonstrate how the VTRA has supported them.
