Police incident near Bay Centre downtown Victoria prompts emergency response

Police have not given comment on the scene

Emergency responders, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, rushed to the scene just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, in downtown Victoria, after a developing incident at a building across from the Bay Centre.

Government Street is closed between Fort and Yates as first responders attempt to resolve the situation at 1140 Government Street. 

"GVERT is responding to a person in distress in the area," Vic PD told Victoria B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·. Police have alerted or evacuated several businesses in the vicinity but say there is no risk to the public.

As of 5:30 p.m., the police are still in the area and closures are still in effect.
