Peninsula speed skater wins silver at B.Cs

Peninsula speed skater Peyton Stonehouse Smith has won a silver medal at the recent BC Short Track Championships in Abbotsford.

Over the March 3-4 weekend, Stonehouse Smith, who skates for the Peninsula Speed Skating Club, placed second overall in the Junior WomenB次元官网网址檚 Performance division. She did that on a powerful skate in the 3,000 metre points race.

B次元官网网址淧eyton won the race with such a commanding lead, she was able to lap out her competitors,B次元官网网址 said coach Brenda Hennigar in an email to the PNR.

Stonehouse SmithB次元官网网址檚 teammate, Tori Kalniuk had to settle for sixth place overall in the Under 15 girls division. Kalyniuk had earned a silver medal at the National Long Track Championships in Quebec City in February.

Other Peninsula Speed Skating Club athletes had a solid weekend on the ice in Abbotsford. Kyle Brown was seventh and his brother Kieran was eighth overall in the Under 14 boys division.
