On Monday, July 8, the Oak Bay Police Department attended two vehicle-related incidents resulting in a total of $266 in fines, about $9,000 in vehicle damage, and a 24-hour driving probation.

At around 1 a.m., police were on patrol near Crescent Road and Lorne Terrace when they observed a Chevrolet Malibu fail to stop at two stop signs, so they performed a traffic stop.

"The driver, a 67-year-old woman, displayed indica consistent with having consumed alcohol. Police formed the opinion that the womanB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s ability to operate a motor vehicle was affected by alcohol," noted a release from Oak Bay PD.

She was issued a 24-hour driving probation, a $167 ticket for failing to obey a stop sign, and her vehicle was towed and impounded for 24 hours.

Just after 8 a.m., police received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lansdowne Road and Foul Bay Road, in which witnesses said the first vehicle was Eastbound on Lansdowne Road and failed to stop at the red light and struck the second vehicle who was Northbound on Foul Bay Road.

Police say the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital by an ambulance as a precaution, however it was determined that the driver did not suffer injuries. The woman driving the first vehicle was issued a $109 ticket for failing to stop at red light and both vehicles were towed from the scene with an estimated total of $9000 in damage.
