Nothing new in Sooke serious crime investigations

No new information is available on the state of investigations into three deaths between 2017 and 2022.

West Shore RCMP Cpl. Alex Berube said there are no available updates on the three incidents, which occurred in the Sooke and Port Renfrew regions.

The most recent case involves the suspicious death of a man who was found deceased in the 8500 block of West Coast Road in March of this year. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, which is investigating the incident, determined that the man suffered his injuries in a remote wilderness area near Jordan River.

The body of Michael Widner was found by a hiker along the Pacific Marine route near Port Renfrew on March 12, 2021. WidnerB次元官网网址檚 vehicle, a black 2003 Volkswagen Golf, was found abandoned in Williams Edmonds Park near Poirier Lake four days earlier. Widner, an Otter Point resident at the time of his death, had alleged links to the Hells Angels biker gang.

The remains of Bruce Carlson were found inside a burned vehicle by a passerby on December 27, 2016. The grisly discovery followed a suspicious fire that burned down CarlsonB次元官网网址檚 house on the Pacheedaht First Nation reserve in September 2015.
