A four-week drug trafficking investigation led by Victoria PoliceB次元官网网址檚 Strike Force unit resulted in the arrest of one person and the B次元官网网址渟ignificantB次元官网网址� seizure of illicit drugs on Feb. 7. 

The investigation, which involved covert surveillance of a drug trafficker across the region, led to a search warrant being executed at the suspect's residence in Langford's Bear Mountain area.  

With assistance from the RCMP Island Emergency Response Team, officers arrested one male and seized approximately $105,000 in cash, one kilogram of fentanyl, 20 litres of GHB, 13 ounces of methamphetamine, and six ounces of cocaine. 

Estimates from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, suggest that one kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill up to 500,000 people.

Further investigations led to a search warrant on the suspectB次元官网网址檚 vehicle. 

With help from an RCMP canine unit and X-ray technology from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, a hidden compartment was discovered in the vehicle. Inside, police found an additional kilogram of cocaine, 500 grams of fentanyl, 500 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded Glock handgun, and a bag of ammunition.

The suspect was released from custody pending further investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, additional details are not available at this time.
