Greater Victoria candidate fed up with election sign vandalism

Green candidate says numerous signs have been damaged or destroyed in Juan de Fuca-Malahat riding

It's a sad sign of the times.

David Evans, B.C. Greens candidate for the Juan de Fuca-Malahat riding, is voicing his frustration over election signs being vandalized.

"Scores of election signs have been damaged or destroyed," Evans said in a media release.

More than eight large signs and countless smaller ones have been damaged or destroyed primarily in the northern parts of the riding, including ones supporting B.C. NDP candidate Dana Lajeunesse.

"ItB次元官网网址檚 frustrating because citizens donated funds and volunteers worked long into the night to build and assemble these signs,B次元官网网址 Evans said. B次元官网网址淓very party has suffered these direct attacks, which are an attack on democracy. Citizens have an expectation of a fair and decent process in elections that includes discourse, debate and a lot of hard work. It does not include property destruction or violence.B次元官网网址

Evans said it's time for all parties and Elections B.C. to call out inappropriate and illegal behaviour.

"Turning a blind eye only encourages impunity of hooligans and makes a mockery of all our efforts to serve constituents.B次元官网网址
