Firefighters from four departments responded to a fire in East Sooke last week.

On Oct. 17 at 8:38 p.m., the East Sooke Volunteer Fire Department dispatched 10 firefighters and four trucks to a house fire on Beecher Bay Road.

Fire Chief Nathan Pocock said the East Sooke department received mutual aid assistance consisting of two trucks from Metchosin, one from Sooke Fire Rescue, and one from Otter Point Fire Services.

No one was injured in the fire, which appeared to have started in the kitchen. Firefighters remained on scene for about five and a half hours and were able to contain the blaze to the upper floor.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
