The end of an era in Langford is complete as Our Lady of the Rosary Church B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ the oldest church in Langford B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ was torn down on Tuesday (Dec. 19).
The final mass was celebrated on Sept. 17.
Documents from the past show the inaugural service took place in December 1955 B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” just one year prior to the founding of Gordon United Church, which currently holds the distinction of being the oldest house of worship in the city.
The church has long been a beloved sight for many locals and tourists. Their new location, situated on Irwin Road, wonB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t be ready to accommodate them in time.
In the interim, members of this group will find solace and a temporary home at the Chapel of Our Lady Star of the Sea, a church nestled within the federal Department of Defence property in Colwood.
