With rates set to slip in 2025 for users in the Juan de Fuca water distribution system, the Capital Regional District is looking to update its development cost charges program in that region.
The Capital Regional District wants to hear from residents about amending the existing development cost charge rates for the Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System program.
The DCC program has helped pay for costs associated with increased demand for water distribution infrastructure within the JdF water service area since 1999.
The development community, residents and First Nations in the service area that covers Colwood, Langford, Metchosin, View Royal, Sooke, parts of Highlands and Juan de Fuca Electoral Area are invited to review the proposed bylaw update, complete a survey and provide feedback on both the current program and proposed changes. The results will be shared with the Juan de Fuca Water Distribution Commission.
Not to be confused with the regional water supply program, also undergoing DCC changes, the Juan de Fuca program is a different component of the integrated system. The regional supply is made up of water storage, treatment and main truck systems including the Juan de Fuca distribution system which then distributes the bulk water to residents in that service area.
