Byelection date set for Sooke School District trustee seat

The Sooke School District has set a date for a byelection to fill the school trustee position left vacant when Ravi Parmar resigned effective July 27 after being elected MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca.

In a news release Tuesday (Aug. 1), the district said the byelection will be held on Oct. 14.

The nomination period for candidates will start Aug. 29, and application forms will be available at as of that date. The nomination period will end Sept. 8.

The final list of candidates for the Belmont Zone Area 1 seat will be published on Sept. 15, and advanced voting at the district board office (3143 Jacklin Rd.) will take place on Oct. 3 and 4 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On election day, polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Spencer Middle School, Dunsmuir Middle School, and the district board office.
