BԪַBig changesBԪַ coming to Greater Victoria transit routes in new year

Tillicum Centre route will be restored after complaints

BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission say there are some BԪַbig changesBԪַ coming to the local transit system, effective Jan. 8, 2024.

BԪַFollowing feedback from the public,BԪַ said a news release, BC Transit will be reinstating Route 11 Tillicum Centre/UVicBԪַs routing that was in place before June 2022, and service frequency on this route will be adjusted.

As well, Route 95 Langford/Downtown RAPIDBUS will now serve the bus stops on Goldstream Avenue at Veterans Memorial Parkway, said a release.

BԪַThis service change also includes a major restructure of the West Shore Transit Network,BԪַ said BC Transit.

BԪַTo better align our service with rapidly increasing development and customer demands,BԪַ changes are being made to the following routes:

BԪַ 39 Westhills/Interurban/Royal Oak/UVic

BԪַ 52 Colwood Exchange/Bear Mountain

BԪַ 54 Metchosin

BԪַ 55 Happy Valley

BԪַ 56 Thetis Heights/Langford Exchange

BԪַ 57 Thetis Heights/Langford Exchange

BԪַ 58 Goldstream Meadows

BԪַ 59 Triangle Mountain

BԪַ 60 Wishart

As part of this restructuring, Route 39 Westhills/Interurban/Royal Oak/UVic will now provide service into the Royal Roads University campus.

Route 52 Colwood Exchange/Bear Mountain is being re-routed to help serve the rapidly growing neighbourhoods of Happy Valley, Latoria, and Royal Bay. This route will still service the Royal Roads University campus during weekday peak times.

Service to Thetis Heights is being restructured with routes 56 and 57 being combined into a new route 57 with more service to McCallum Road.

The new Route 49 Langford Exchange/Skirt Mountain will offer service to new developments on Skirt Mountain and maintain coverage along Setchfield Avenue and Treanor Avenue that was previously served by route 56.
