BC Transit is cancelling Route 13 between Ten Mile Point and the University of Victoria and is closing four bus stops in Esquimalt along Route 24.

A news release announcing the changes says this will better align service with demand. Route 13 riders can use Route 11 buses, which runs from Tillicum Centre to UVic and has many of the same stops.

B次元官网网址淩oute 13 has low ridership and has not met our performance standards for an extended period,B次元官网网址� the BC Transit website says.

Only 15 per cent of the route is not covered by the number 11 bus route. According to the BC Transit website, those stops are all in the Ten Mile Point neighbourhood and only average three passengers per day.

As a result, four bus stops will cease to operate, all along Arbutus Road.

In a separate move, another four bus stops are set to close on Parklands Drive and Kingsmill Road along Route 24. Ridership at those stops is at about six to seven people per day.

Parking along those roads was also an issue.

People in that neighbourhood can still access transit on Admirals Road.

These changes will be in effect as of Sept. 3.
