LETTER: CouncillorBԪַs travel is inexcusable

LETTER: CouncillorBԪַs travel is inexcusable

I am quite frankly gobsmacked. I am a recently retired nurse/nurse educator who has a full appreciation of the risks involved in the current pandemic. For Coun. Kahakauwila to be defending her recent trip to Cabo San Lucas for a wedding is beyond the pall on so many levels.

LETTER: Credit union lets down its members

COVID has negatively affected citizensBԪַ ability to deal with governments, businesses and institutions: communications are reduced to anonymously answered emails and impossible phone wait times. What a gift to those entities choosing to be unaccountable to those they serve.

LETTER: Loss of Vic High track would erode the health of cityBԪַs youth

Mens Sana in Corpore Sano BԪַ a healthy mind in a healthy body. ItBԪַs the motto of numerous athletic clubs and educational institutions around the world. ItBԪַs the theory that physical exercise is an essential part of mental and psychological well-being. As a runner and a physician I know that it is true and, intuitively, I believe, so do most of you. But letBԪַs be guided by the science.
LETTER: Mandatory registration essential for secondary suites

LETTER: Mandatory registration essential for secondary suites

In her letter, Ms. Mears list three reasons why she supports regulation of secondary suites in Oak Bay: safety for tenants, present lack of legitimately required municipal revenue (and the ongoing related servicing costs), and to provide BԪַmissing middle housingBԪַ assuming it can be done with BԪַgentleBԪַ but not BԪַoverBԪַ densification.

LETTER: Reality of COVID still not sinking in with some

It was back in late January or early February 2020 that COVID-19 raised its ugly head, and by the end of March we were wearing masks, lining up at stores, scrambling for hand sanitizer and generally adapting to a new world order laced with sickness and death.
LETTER: Amalgamation not the answer for Saanich

LETTER: Amalgamation not the answer for Saanich

In reference to the Dec. 23 letter in the Saanich BԪַ entitled BԪַMayor interfering with the amalgamation processBԪַ by James Anderson, I suggest that Mr. Anderson and his myopic group come out of their Amalgamation Yes cave and check which way the wind is blowing.
LETTER: Public should have say on Braefoot building

LETTER: Public should have say on Braefoot building

We, as longtime residents of Saanich, object to Saanich terminating the lease with the Braefoot Community Association after holding an in-camera session.
LETTER: Oak Bay must open door to new regulations for secondary suites

LETTER: Oak Bay must open door to new regulations for secondary suites

Oak Bay Watch (aka Anthony Mears and a few other people) continue to promulgate misleading information about potential changes in our wonderful residential community. This is incredibly unhelpful in fostering informed debate and discussion about what we want to see in our collective future with respect to regulation of secondary suites in private homes.

LETTER: OCP review taking North Saanich off course

Re: the article BԪַFormer mayor questions North SaanichBԪַs OCP review in the Dec. 17 Peninsula BԪַ Review. I would like to express my gratitude for Alice FinallBԪַs commentary on this issue. It takes a unique insight, honed by years of experience in such matters, to lift the veil on whatBԪַs really going on.
