LETTER: Dogs out of control on Cadboro Bay

LETTER: Dogs out of control on Cadboro Bay

IBԪַd like to thank the letter writers who have come forward on what has become a far-too-common occurrence on our public beaches and parks. Every time I visit my neighbourhood beach of Cadboro Bay I am witness to the dangerous behaviour of BԪַfriendlyBԪַ off-leash dogs charging and jumping. Even dogs racing past my family and I at high speeds causes me great concern. How do I know if your BԪַfriendlyBԪַ dog wonBԪַt suddenly turn on my children? Or knock them over accidentally?

LETTER: Langford man helps strangers on the ferry

My husband and I recently made a trip to Victoria with friends of ours. Once on the ferry, we were surprised to find that the cafeteria had changed protocols. There was a long lineup for BԪַpre ordersBԪַ and the other lineup was as far as the eye could see. As seniors, we were baffled and were musing about how we could possibly get something to eat.
LETTER: Turning over a new leaf

LETTER: Turning over a new leaf

You know youBԪַve hit peak Oak Bay when thereBԪַs a guy blowing leaves off the sidewalk into the gutter on one side of the street, and engineers trying to unblock drains full of decomposing, uncollected leaves on the other.
LETTER: Victoria councilBԪַs priorities out of whack

LETTER: Victoria councilBԪַs priorities out of whack

VictoriaBԪַs mayor and council continue to blow through tax funds in a reckless manner. For example, they can find room in the budget to buy a cement ping pong table that nobody uses, to give a tax-free window for a private luxury condominium building in Victoria, and to continue building bicycle lanes on narrow streets in the James Bay area. And yet they continue to balk at providing proper increased funding for the police that will provide a safe and secure city.
LETTER: COVID with your coffee

LETTER: COVID with your coffee

Some cafes in B.C. are able to serve food wrapped for take-out such as salads, sandwiches, muffins, etc. suitable for a light lunch. These items can be eaten inside the cafe legally but customers are not required to show proof of COVID vaccination before doing so. Consequently, they are now popular hangouts for the COVID unvaccinated and a possible health risk to their fellow coffee drinkers.
LETTER: Salt Spring bridges a better option to the Malahat

LETTER: Salt Spring bridges a better option to the Malahat

I live on the Peninsula, but have a farm in the Cowichan Valley which I often commute to. The Malahat is a dangerous and unpredictable drive, with frequent delays and closures. IBԪַve experienced driving past an overturned trailer within minutes of it happening.

LETTER: David Suzuki incites violence

I used to think that David Suzuki was working to protect the environment. I was wrong!
