Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred along the Comox Valley Parkway Friday, Oct. 4.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. resulting in first responders being called to a B次元官网网址榟igh-velocity crashB次元官网网址 according to Deputy Chief Stephane Dionne of Cumberland Fire Rescue.
B次元官网网址淲hen we arrived on scene the two vehicles were pretty damaged, one person trapped in the vehicle and the other people were outside their vehicle,B次元官网网址 Dionne says.
A 33-year-old woman was trapped inside a vehicle that was on its side down an embankment following the crash. Initial plans were to have her air-lifted from the site but according to Dionne she was pronounced dead at the scene.
B次元官网网址淚t went over the embankment and rolled over on the side, we had to do a roof peel-off to extricate the patient,B次元官网网址 he adds.
The vehicle had also severely damaged a hydro box severing power to streetlights at the interchange.
The collision occurred at the off-ramp intersection from the highway, which leads towards the tourist information centre and the on-ramp to Campbell River.
The vehicle left the highway at the same spot a fatal crash happened in May of 2022 when a logging truck lost its load of logs on top of a pickup parked on the northbound on-ramp.
The area was closed for several hours Friday night as the BC Coroners Service and an RCMP traffic reconstructionist investigated.
Police hope other motorists in the area may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage.
