Tammy Gough has started a GoFundMe in support of her daughter, Ashley Reynolds who is currently in Australia.
On Nov. 20, Ashley Bella and her then fianc茅, Aaron Reynolds, travelled to Australia to visit his family for the holidays. The couple eloped while in Australia.
Reynolds is currently 24 weeks pregnant and was due to return to Canada on a flight on Jan. 6. Now, their return has been delayed.
The trouble started when Reynolds began to bleed. During a visit to a doctor in Australia for an ultrasound, it was discovered that Reynolds had a major placenta previa preventing her from returning to Canada before the birth of her baby. Flying could put Reynolds at risk of hemorrhaging.
B次元官网网址淪he went for her 20-week ultrasound and they found she had a major placenta previa so she was told to not do anything strenuous, not exactly bedrest. But no exercise and to take it very easy. She has to be monitored throughout the process,B次元官网网址 said Gough. B次元官网网址淏eing on a flight that long is a health risk to her and the baby. If she hemorrhages in the air there is a risk to her and the babyB次元官网网址檚 lives.B次元官网网址
Reynolds had purchased travel medical insurance through BCAA for her trip, which had been covering her medical care up to this point. BCAA required Ashley to get a letter from a doctor that stated she could not fly home and needed medical care in Australia before they would cover any more expenses. Ashley obtained the letter but BCAA has now stated they will only do seven days of coverage.
B次元官网网址淭hey were very good at covering the cost of the emergency care for her around the placenta previa and the 24 hours of care that she was at the hospital. Now they are only extending her coverage for seven days,B次元官网网址 shared Gough.
Due to this development, Reynolds will have to pay out of pocket approximately $10,000 for the birth of her baby. The delivery must now be a cesarean section and the baby will most likely need extra care, such as time in the NICU, as the baby may be born premature.
B次元官网网址淚f she starts bleeding anytime before her due date theyB次元官网网址檙e going to have to do an emergency c-section, so all the medical costs fall on them and she doesnB次元官网网址檛 have any travel medical insurance now,B次元官网网址 stated Gough.
With BCAA no longer willing to cover medical costs, despite the letter from an Australian doctor stating that Reynolds can not travel back at her original flight date, the young couple needs some help with the impending bill.
B次元官网网址淚 started the GoFundMe because theyB次元官网网址檙e a young couple just starting out and now she canB次元官网网址檛 return home to Canada to work to get her employment insurance hours for maternity leave,B次元官网网址 shared Gough.
ReynoldB次元官网网址檚 original due date isnB次元官网网址檛 until April 23, which the couple thought would be plenty of time to visit Australia and return home.
B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 hard for her. ItB次元官网网址檚 been such an emotional toll on both of them being over there and the distress of trying to figure everything out from Australia. ItB次元官网网址檚 her first baby. She had in mind how she wanted it to look, with me being her mom there and friends and family and now thatB次元官网网址檚 all looking different.B次元官网网址
Reynolds and her husband have now booked a return flight to Canada for June 16, giving time for the delivery of their baby and some rest before making the long flight home.
