Voters in Courtenay-Comox have been turning out in droves to make their choice in the 2024 provincial election.

According to data released by Elections BC, the riding has had the second highest advanced voter turnout in the province over the past few days, with 18,173 people heading to the ballot box as of Oct. 16. The largest number of voters cast their ballots on the first day possible, with 4,038 people voting on Oct. 10. Oct. 11 saw 3,703 voters, Oct. 12 was 2,053, Oct. 13 had 1,721, and Oct. 15 had 2,911, and Oct. 16 had 3,297.

That puts the total voter turn out so far at just over 36 per cent. The riding has 49,497 registered voters.

All of the top five ridings for votes cast so far were on Vancouver Island. Saanich North and the Islands has the most, at 18,277. They're followed by Courtenay Comox, then Oak Bay - Gordon Head 16,315, Victoria-Beacon Hill at 15,992, and Ladysmith Oceanside at 15,655.

In all, 1,001,331 British Columbians cast their vote before election day, with the most voting on Oct. 16 (222,907).
