This month, the Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA) will offer Greater Victoria theatre-goers a fresh take on the age-old story of mythological Greek character Antigone.

Performed by the college's Studio Ensemble, directed by award-winning playwright Marjorie Chan and written by Ho Ka Kei, the performance will run from Nov. 28 until Dec. 1 at the CCPA in Oak Bay.

The story follows Antigone, who was arrested and incarcerated in a tomb after defying the king of the Greek city Thebes.

"This play will sweep you up with its unforgettable characters and references that are all too relevant in an increasingly polarized world," said the CCPA on its website. "You will leave inspired: 'In the courage of a young woman there is hope for the future.'"

Founded in 2005, the CCPA's Studio Ensemble is a performing arts training program providing emerging artists industry insights and comprehensive theatre training.

B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·œI'm so thrilled to be able to collaborate with the Studio Ensemble," said Chan. "As artists performing as well as filling production roles, I have been inspired by their talent, passion, and creativity."
